Fasting & Prayer Initiative, Week 8

“Hezekiah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he ruled twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Abijah daughter of Zechariah.  Hezekiah did what the LORD said was right, just as his ancestor David had done. Hezekiah opened the doors of the Temple of the LORD and repaired them in the first month of the first year he was king. Hezekiah brought in the priests and Levites and gathered them in the courtyard on the east side of the Temple. Hezekiah said, “Listen to me, Levites. Make yourselves ready for the LORD’S service, and make holy the Temple of the LORD, the God of your ancestors. Remove from the Temple everything that makes it impure.”—2 Chronicles 29:1-5 (NCV)

Blessings on your Sunday afternoon!

I believe that this above passage sets the theme for this week. We can pray globally, nationally, and even regionally, but until we have dealt redemptively with ourselves, our prayers will not be effective weapons in the heavenlies.

We are going after padlocks that have keep people and regions in chains, but to be effective we have to ask the Holy Spirit to deal with our own lives and our personal walk so that we live and declare from a position of being chain free! When Hezekiah began his reign, in the first month, he began the work of reopening access to God’s presence. He charges the Levites, to make themselves ready. We need to make ourselves ready so that in prayer we can be chain breakers!

Here are some additional passages for you to prayer through this week:

  • “Yet even now,” declares the LORD, “Return to Me with all your heart, And with fasting, weeping and mourning;”—Joel 2:12 (NASB)
  • “But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”—Matthew 6:17-18
  • “Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart.”—Luke 18:1 (NASB)

The Lord Jesus enrich and protect you as you spend time in the holy of holies interceding for The Third Great Awakening and for the Lord to move upon our nation as a crucial election approaches.
