Fasting & Prayer – January 31, 2021

Welcome to the beginning of another week of seeking the Lord in prayer on behalf of our nation. Since the summer we have been in prayer for our government. It is evident that more than ever, DC needs heaven’s intervention. Secondly we are praying for the release of a spiritual awakening that will sweep across our country from ocean to ocean, from Canada to Mexico! If that seems like an impossible mission Mr. Phelps (hint: of Mission Impossible fame), it is one that you have already taken on and it will not self-destruct in five seconds.

This past week in my teaching, I spoke about the importance of a Biblical worldview. What follows are a few passages to assist you in getting started in your prayer time with a great focus on the battle in which we are actually engaged for the hearts and minds of the citizens of our great nation.

Colossians 2:8 (ESV) See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

Ephesians 4:17-32 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ!— assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus.

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

Now on to a few reminding verses about prayerfulness:

Psalm 5:3 (TPT) At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart.

Psalm 130:5-6 This is why I wait upon you, expecting your breakthrough, for your word brings me hope. 6 I long for you more than any watchman would long for the morning light. I will watch and wait for you, O God, throughout the night.

Psalm 105:4 Seek more of his strength! Seek more of him! Let’s always be seeking the light of his face.

The Lord Jesus bless you abundantly this week in your prayer time and in your time off your knees as well,
